King's faculty presents paper at annual Academy of Management meeting
September 14, 2007 – The King's College William G. McGowan School of Business was represented at the 72nd annual Academy of Management meeting held recently in Philadelphia . Rev. Jack Ryan, C.S.C., PhD, and Joan M. Blewitt, PhD, presented their paper “Utilizing Business Advisory Groups to Increase Student Self-Efficacy.” The Academy of Management Conference included nearly 8,000 participants, representing 81 countries.
The theme of this year's annual meeting was “Doing Well by Doing Good.”
The presented paper is based upon the annual McGowan School of Business Forum where King's students are paired with alumni for mentoring sessions. In preparation for the forum, King's students prepare résumés, engage in an executive etiquette training session and review the backgrounds of their mentors. Mentors provide details of their own career experience, challenges they have faced, suggestions for students on improving their resumes, and insights on gaining experience in their fields of interest. Previous forums have been held in New York City and Philadelphia . The next forum with be held at the Westmoreland Club in Wilkes-Barre on October 18.
The King's College McGowan School of Business is accredited by AACSB International and is one of only 41 undergraduate institutions to earn this accreditation.
