Daniel O' Rourke named King's McGowan Scholar

August 23, 2007 – King's College senior Daniel O' Rourke is the recipient of the William G. McGowan Scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year. He is majoring in business administration and international business.

The scholarship is a full-tuition award named in honor of William G. McGowan, a 1952 graduate of King's College, who went on to a successful business career as the founder and chairman of MCI Telecommunications.

O'Rourke is a member of the Aquinas Society, the King's College honor society, and member of Epsilon Chi Omicron, the honor society for international business, as well as a defensive back on the varsity football team. He is president of the Class of 2008, resident assistant for 40 students at Holy Cross Hall, a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and member of Cantores Christi Regis, the College choir. He also completed internships at Verdelli Farms and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

The McGowan Scholarship is awarded to a full-time student who is pursuing his or her primary major within the McGowan School of Business. Candidates must be entering their senior year at the College, have achieved a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0. In addition, candidates for the scholarship must be nominated by at least one faculty member of the School of Business.
