The scholarship is awarded to full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a nursing or physician assistant program at one of AICUP’s member institutions. Students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average, demonstrate leadership, and volunteer within the community. Christopher will provide over 450 hours of community service in the United States during the upcoming calendar year as a member of the Scholars in Service program. She has participated in numerous volunteer assignments, including working in orphanages and women’s shelters in Laredo, Texas, helping construct a public gazebo for a poor farm community in Thessaliniki, Greece, and rebuilding eroded trails and roads to help preserve a rain forest in Costa Rica. She also spoke with Chinese medical students from Sichuan University on the value of community service abroad and within their country. This summer, she is traveling to Jamaica to work at a medical clinic and plans to study at the University of Texas to learn about public health for the impoverished people. As a Monarch Ambassador, Christopher provides campus tours for prospective students and their families and assists with Open House and other special visitation programs. She is also an active volunteer with Canine Companions for Independence and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She is the daughter of Claudia and Ted Christopher of Upper Dublin.
