Author, editor of Inc. magazine Bo Burlingham to address King’s Family Business Forum, June 9

June 2, 2009 – Noted author and current editor-at-large of “Inc.” magazine Bo Burlingham will share his insights and lessons learned from researching successful small businesses at the King’s College Family Business Forum from 8-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center, located between North Main and Franklin streets.

Burlingham’s talk is titled “Small Giants: Helping Your Company Grow Better Rather Than Bigger.”

In his book “Small Giants: Companies That Choose To Be Great Instead of Big,” Burlingham reveals how maverick companies passed up the growth treadmill and focused on greatness instead. The book was one of five finalists for the 2006 Financial Times/Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year award.

Burlingham is co-author with Jack Stack of “The Great Game of Business and A Stake in the Outcome,” and co-authors with Norm Brodsky the popular monthly column in “Inc.” called “Street Smarts,” which in 2008 won an American Society of Business Publication Editors gold Azbee award.

The Family Business Forum’s mission is to offer educational and unique networking opportunities to local and regional family businesses and is sponsored by King’s College, the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber, Luzerne Bank, Northeast Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center (NEPIRC), Parente Randolph and Rosenn, Jenkins & Greenwald. Registration is required. For more information, please contact Patrice R. Persico at the Family Business Forum, (570) 208-5972.
