3 Delaware Valley High School students named national French contest winners

May 14, 2009 – The National French Contest, sponsored by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French, concluded with 59 chapter and 24 national winners from a pool of nearly 348 elementary to high school student entrants from public and private schools in the Wyoming Valley, Scranton, Pocono, Hazleton, and South Williamsport areas. The National French contest chapter winners from Delaware Valley High School were Morgane Fouse, Westly Mandoske, and Kathryn Yuen.

Dr. Margaret Corgan, chairperson of the department of foreign languages at King’s, is president of the local chapter and director of the program, which began at King’s in 1969. In that time, more than 24,000 students have registered and taken the test at the College.

Continuing a tradition that began in 1977, King’s College hosted a dinner for area national and chapter French contest winners and guests in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center.

King's College is a Catholic College sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross.
