Author, ABC News Correspondent Jim Sciutto named King’s Divine Wisdom Lecturer

March 20, 2009 – Author and Senior Foreign Correspondent for ABC News Jim Sciutto will provide insight on America’s enemies in the Muslim World as the keynote speaker for the 2009 Rev. Donald Grimes, C.S.C., Annual Divine Wisdom Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 6, at King’s College in the Burke Auditorium, William G. McGowan School of Business. The lecture, which will be based on Sciutto’s new book “Against Us,” is free and open to the public.
 
As ABC News’ Senior Foreign correspondent Sciutto, currently based in London, has reported from more than 40 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, where he’s completed more than 100 assignments.
 
A critically acclaimed journalist, Sciutto was honored with numerous awards, including the 2007 George Polk Award for television for his undercover reporting in Myanmar. He has won Emmy awards in 2004 and 2005 for best story in a regularly scheduled newscast, covering northern Iraq for “Iraq: Where Things Stand.” He was nominated Emmy awards for outstanding coverage of a breaking news story for “Crisis in Beslan” and his contribution from Cambodia for Good Morning America’s “Around the World” series.
 
Sciutto earned a degree in history from Yale University in 1992. In 2008, he was selected as a lifetime member of the Council of Foreign Relations. In 2002, he was appointed Associate Fellow of Pierson College at Yale.

The lecture is sponsored by the Honors Program at King’s College. Parking will be available on campus. The William G. McGowan School of Business is located on North River Street. Since 2006, the name of the Annual Divine Wisdom Lecture was changed to honor the late Rev. Donald Grimes, C.S.C., a member of the Congregation of Holy Cross. From his arrival at King’s College in 1972, until his death in 2005, Father Grimes served as a professor, counselor, administrator, and finally the vice president of academic affairs.
