The King’s Players to Perform “A Peasant of El Salvador”
March 23, 2009- The King’s College Theatre Department will perform “A Peasant of El Salvador,” a “compassionate” comedy, at 7:30 p.m., March 25-28, in the King’s Theatre.
“A Peasant of El Salvador” is the story of a struggling farmer and his family’s life in El Salvador during the 1970s and ‘80s. They try to maintain their way of life during the chaotic events after the assassination of Archbishop Oscar Romero in San Salvador. The play also incorporates mime and Latin American music.
The play is being directed by Brother Jim Miller, C.S.C. The cast members include Chad Hoffman, Tyler Lafrentz, Kevin Temple, and Ryan Wetzelberger, narrators; Brian Najarro, Jesus; Drake Nester, Raul; Michael Deegan, Ricardo and Juancito; Maria Kleback, Marta; Sierra Denight, Maria; Seancolin Hankins, Manuel; Therese Conrad, Therese; Shawn McDonald, Archbishop Oscar Romero; Kyle Kearney, Crop Foreman; Dustin Lusby, Prison Guard; Thomas Sheridan, Colonel; Robert Sheridan, Government Official; Colin Walsh, Salvadoran Land Reform Officer.
