Medications from the Student Health Center
The health center maintains a limited formulary of prescription and non-prescription medications, which are provided to the students at no cost.
Medications from an outside pharmacy
If we do not stock a needed medication, you will be given a prescription to take to the pharmacy of your choice. Students may need to call the pharmacy in advance to find out the cost and to arrange payment.
If you have prescription coverage through an insurance carrier you should be aware of which pharmacy accepts your insurance and you should have a copy of your prescription insurance card.
Students are responsible for the cost of medications obtained at an outside pharmacy even if the medication is prescribed by a student health center clinician.
Refer to Medical Resources for a list of local pharmacies.
If necessary, transportation via taxi to outside healthcare providers can be arranged if the resident student is unable to find a ride.
The cost for health center services is covered by the health fee that is required of all resident students. Commuter and off-campus students can also use the health center services by either paying the semester health fee or on a fee for service basis. The fee for service charge will be added to the next semester's bill. The Health Fee pays for the primary services provided at the student health center:
- Care by a health center provider
- Medications dispensed or prescribed by a king's health care provider from the health center formulary.
- Diagnostic procedures and tests done at the student health center
The Health Fee does not pay for:
- Care provided or prescriptions filled outside the King's College student health center
- Referrals to off- campus providers
Payment for off-campus care or off-campus medication is the responsibility of the student. Students are responsible for all bills incurred that are not covered by their health insurance carrier. |
