HOUSING - APPLICATION PACKET Dear First Year Student, On behalf of the Office of Residence Life, we would like to welcome you to King's College. The residence hall environment is one where students can be very successful. Current research shows that students residing in the residence halls get more from their college experience. We also know that students who live on campus and take an active role in the residence halls enhance our college community. We are excited to have you contribute to our community in positive ways. We have enclosed information that will assist us in placing you and assist you in your preparations to join our community. Carefully read the "Contract for Student Housing". Your contract contains important information about the terms of your housing. Please pay specific attention to the size and type of appliances that are and are not permitted in the residence halls. When in doubt, contact the Office of Residence Life to avoid spending money on an item that will not be permitted in the residence halls. Once you have read the “Contract for Student Housing”and understand the terms, sign the white copy and return it with the following:
These forms should by returned by Wednesday, June 6, 2007 the enclosed reply envelope. You must also include a check for $200.00 payable to King's College. This payment is a damage deposit for your room and any common area damages should they occur. The deposit is refundable as stated in the contract and will not appear on the bill you receive from the Business Office. Completed applications (those, which include the $200.00 deposit and all forms) received by the June 6, 2007 deadline will receive roommate and room assignment preference where possible. Roommate assignments will be sent out to you during mid July. This information will include the name of your new roommate and contact information (name, address and home phone number as well as the assigned building and room number). Cancellation of contracts after July 1, 2007 will result in a cancellation penalty, detailed further on the back of the housing contract. The King's College Contract for Student Housing is for one full academic year (fall and spring semesters). King's policy requires all first year students and sophomores who do not reside within commuting distance (within 45 miles with a parent or guardian who is not a student) and who are under 21 years of age, to live in a college residence hall. All residence hall students are required to enroll in a meal plan. Resident students may choose one of the following plans: 15, 19, 15 plus and Constant meal plan plus. Please see the Dining Service brochure for additional information. The residence halls will open for new and transfer students on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. When you arrive at your residence hall, orientation assistants will be available to help you move into your new room between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. It is important for you to arrive during this time period, as all new students must attend the New Student Orientation. You will receive additional information regarding the New Student Orientation in late July.
