CAMPUS MINISTRY - SACRAMENTS

Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Catholic Tradition holds at its core the celebration of God's forgiveness. The Sacrament of Reconciliation celebrates the reality that God loves us and never stops loving us. In fact we believe that God loves us when we are in sin just as much as when we are out of sin. Individual confession is available before masses or anytime by appointment. Call extension 5890 or stop by the Office of Campus Ministry anytime during the day. All of the Holy Cross priests on campus are likewise available for private confession.

"The Lord forgives our sins, heals us when we are sick, and protects us from death.  His kindness and love are a crown on our heads."  Psalm 103

Penance Services
Twice during the liturgical year, in Advent and Lent a communal Penance Service is held. These beautiful and meditative liturgies consist of song, scripture, reflection by students and the opportunity for private confession. Call Campus Minsitry at 5890 for the date and time of the next Penance Service.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Students who respond to the Lord's invitation to follow the Gospel more closely in the Catholic Church are encouraged to enter the RCIA process. This two year long journey consists of prayer, faith sharing, instruction and celebrating the rites in the midst of the assembly at the Sunday Eucharist. The sacraments of Baptism, First Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated at the culmination of the process on the Second Sunday after Easter at the 7:00 P.M. Mass.

Registration for RCIA takes place in the months of August and September. Interested students may contact Bob Shearn, Associate Campus Minister at 5691 or rmshearn@kings.edu

"If your are thirsty, come and drink water! If you don't have any money, come, eat what you want!" Isaiah 55

Sacrament of Marriage
Alumni and members of the King's community are welcome to celebrate their marriage in the Chapel of Christ the King with the permission of the bishop of Scranton. Engaged couples should contact Fr. Dick Hockman, C.S.C., Director of Campus Ministry at least six months before the wedding at 5630 or rchockma@kings.edu. At least three pre-nuptial meetings with Fr. Jack and participation at the diocesan sponsored Marriage Preparation Program is required.

"That is why a man will eave his own father and mother.  He marries a woman, and the two of them become like one person."   Genesis 2:24
