Whether you are obtaining your associate's degree at Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) or just taking a few courses, transferring to King's College has never been easier. This booklet was specifically designed with the LCCC student in mind. It contains the many important issues concerning the transfer student, such as a self-credit evaluation, admissions standards, and of course, financial aid information. We encourage you to come and visit our campus and let one of our admissions counselors help ease the transfer process.

Starting The Transfer Process

Any student wishing to transfer to King's College must submit the following materials before he/she can be reviewed for acceptance:

  1. A completed application accompanied by the current application fee.
  2. An official transcript from a secondary school, or G.E.D., including
    percentile breakdown.
  3. Official transcript(s) from all post secondary institutions, including
    two and four year colleges.

Subsequent to evaluation, the student will be notified of the admissions decision. All prospective students are encouraged to visit the King's College campus for a tour and personal interview to discuss their credit evaluation.

Full-Time or Part-Time Status

A student who is interested in transferring to King's College can either be full-time or part-time depending on the number of credits taken during the semester. Full-time status consists of having twelve credits per semester or more and part-time status consists of having less than twelve credits. All full-time students should contact Randall Hurst in the Office of Admissions at (570) 208-5858 or e-mail at rshurst@kings.edu and all part-time students should contact the Center For Lifelong Learning at (570) 208-5865.

Requirements to transfer from LCCC to King's College

A student does not have to obtain an associate's degree in order to be accepted to King's College. Transcripts are evaluated on a course by course basis. The following standards have to be met in order for a transfer to take place:

  1. A "C" average (2.00 cumulative average based on a 4.00 system) is the minimum requirement for admission into most liberal arts programs; a 2.50
average is the minimum requirement for entrance into a natural science,
    accounting, computer science, or computers and information systems curriculum;
a 2.85 average is the minimum for the teacher's education program; and a 3.00 average is the minimum for the physician's assistant program.
  2. Credit is accepted in transfer for those courses in which the student has received the equivalent of a "C" grade or better and which are applicable
to the degree to which he/she aspires.
  3. A maximum of sixty (60) semester hours of credit will be accepted in
    transfer.

NOTE: Always confer with an advisor at LCCC before you sign up for courses each semester, or schedule an appointment with an admission counselor at King's to find out the specific major requirements.

Graduation requirements for King's College

The requirement for the degree of bachelor of arts or bachelor of science is the completion of a minimum of one hundred and twenty (120) semester hours of credit, (some majors require more than 120 semester credit hours for the student to be eligible to receive a degree) which must include all specific course requirements. A student is expected to earn at least sixty (60) semester hours of credit at King's College, and this must include the work of the senior year and a greater portion of the major sequence as determined by the department chairpersons. The remainder of the student's 120 credit hours will include various courses making up the core curriculum.
