APPLYING TO KING'S FOR FRESHMEN

The Office of Admission offers two methods for candidates to apply for admission:  The SAT/ACT Traditional Choice and the Test Optional Admission Choice (graded paper).  Applicants are required to state their preference prior to the application review and the decision is non-reversible.

SAT/ACT Traditional Choice:

  • Completed application
  • Official high school transcripts
  • SAT I or ACT scores
  • Guidance counselor recommendation
  • Essay
  • $30 Application fee

Test Optional Admission Choice (graded paper)

The test optional admission policy was adopted by King’s College to provide students with an alternative to submitting standardized test scores during the admission process.   In lieu of submitting standardized test scores for admission to King’s, the applicant must submit an original graded paper from junior or senior year  demonstrating the student’s writing ability.  English composition and history papers are good examples of what students may want to consider when submitting a graded paper in place of standardized test scores.  Math exams, poetry, and foreign language assignments will not be considered in place of standardized test scores.  The original graded paper should be sent from the applicant’s guidance office.

  • Completed application
  • Official  high school transcripts
  • Official graded paper from either junior or senior year submitted and sent by the high school guidance office
  • Guidance counselor recommendation
  • Essay
  • $30 Application fee

General Guidelines

While each application for admission is reviewed individually, here are some general guidelines:

The most important criteria in the admission decision are a student’s four-year academic record, GPA, strength of curriculum and overall rank in class. Recommendations, the personal statement, co-curricular activities, leadership and community service help to complete your profile. March 1 is the preferred application deadline for first-year students. Applications may be submitted after September 1 and are reviewed on a rolling admission basis. Decisions are released in mid-October. Once we have received your application materials, we will notify you with a decision in two to three weeks. Students choosing the standardized test option are required to notify the Office of Admission on the application.  A students’ decision is non-reversible and must be made prior to application review.

Individual interviews and campus tours may be scheduled Monday through Friday throughout the year. Group information sessions and campus tours are offered on Saturdays during the academic year.   Call 1-888-KINGS-PA for summer and fall open house dates.
