The Alliance for Global Education Programs in Beijing and Shanghai, China

China's recent emergence as a world economic giant assures that it will be a major player in shaping events of the 21 st century. More and more U. S. students recognize the value of China as a study abroad destination, not just because of the country's importance as a world power, but also because of the vast cultural and artistic treasures of a nation boasting four thousand years of civilization. China offers a fascinating and engaging backdrop for students from a variety of disciplines.

Students studying through The Alliance for Global Education may choose one of three possible programs in China . Students enrolled in the program at the Beijing Language and Culture University will explore contemporary China in the capital city, one of the fastest-changing cities in the world. Here students will combine Chinese language study with a range of China Studies courses taught in English. Students with an interest in International Business can choose to participate in the program hosted by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics where the curriculum is focused on international business, economic development, and Chinese language. A third program, hosted by Fudan University , focuses on the study of contemporary Chinese society and language in Shanghai . Here students may choose an intensive study of Chinese language or a combination of Chinese language and area studies.

Students participating in the Alliance for Global Education's programs in China will be accommodated in university housing designed for international students. Thorough support services and planned cultural activities, lectures, excursions, and social events will enhance the students' experience.
