EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING - PHILOSOPHY Experiential Learning is a process involving student learning through active participation in the world of work. It engages the learner directly in a professional setting and provides the opportunity to apply theoretical learning of the classroom to practical situations, activities, and challenges. The college views experiential learning as a complement to classroom instruction and as a meaningful bridge connecting the academic and professional worlds. At King’s College, the majority of experiential learning opportunities take place in the form of an internship. An internship is formally defined as the supervised placement of a student in a professional work setting, for a specified period, and for an appropriate number of academic credits. It is an upper division learning experience, different from independent study, student teaching, and practicum. |
